Kargiakh (High Altitude Trek)

Fly into New Delhi and take a domestic flight to Leh 11,500 ft (capital of (Ladakh). After a day of rest acclimatization, drive south over 3 high passes to the first camp and clinic site at Sarchu. After clinics at Sarchu, set out on a trail which is high in altitude, rough and challenging. Begin a 6-day hike over Phirste La Pass 18,200 ft to the Zanskar Valley of southern Ladakh. All clinic and camp sites are located between 12,000 ft – 13,500 ft. Approximately 600-800 patients are expected to attend our clinics. We hike/trek and set camps at the villages of Sarchu 14,700 ft, Testa 12, 950 ft, Phuktar 13,200 ft, Khangsar 13,200 ft, Kargiakh 13,300 ft. End clinics in Zanskar Valley and drive back to Leh.

Note: The 6-day, partially self-contained, high-altitude trek is demanding with minimal comfort, all of it above the Himalayan tree line in a rough mountainous terrain. Please take time to grasp the reality of this and conduct a personal inventory on yourself before signing up.
